INJURED AGAIN

Branislav Ivanovic and Frank Lampard both sustained injuries during Chelsea’s match against Liverpool as they played in December of last year and according to injury updates from Jose Mourinho, the English midfielder might just be able to make his recovery in time for their upcoming match against Manchester United but Ivanovic is not likely to make it.

“Lampard is training all week with the team so normally yes. Ivanovic has not had one training session. He will today but I don’t think he can play’’. Mourinho stated.

Lampard suffered from a muscular problem while Ivanovic picked up a knee injury and both are regular starters for Mourinho but even with their absence, Chelsea has managed to deal well without their 2 key performers.

Mourinho also said that the new signing Nemanja Matic is likely to make his 2nd Chelsea debut during their match against Manchester United but it will be as a substitute player as the midfielder still has not made it into his starting XI lineup.
“Matic is not starting the game. I feel that I hold respect to my other players. We are doing well – we are playing well. I don’t think it’s the right message that a new player comes in. I’m not playing Matic from the beginning.” The former Real Madrid coach stated.

Branislav Ivanovic was named the best Serbian footballer for the 2nd consecutive year as he overcame Nemanja Matic with more votes and joined the likes of Dejan Stankovic and Nemanja Vidic as the third two time winner of the award. The defender scored the winning goal in the Europa League final and is one of the more consistent players in the Chelsea squad which is why Mourinho rates Ivanovic so highly.
